Cloud Environment Parameters

The parameters relating to when the device is deployed in a cloud environment are described in the table below.

Cloud Environment Parameters

Parameter

Description

'AWS EC2 Endpoint'

configure network > network-settings > aws-ec2-endpoint

[AwsEc2Endpoint]

Defines the Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 endpoint name.

The parameter can be configured to one of the following values:

Empty (default): The device automatically generates the AWS EC2 API endpoint based on the region in which it is deployed (e.g., "ec2.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com").
Custom EC2 API endpoint FQDN (e.g., "vpce-0123456789.ec2.eu-central-1.vpce.amazonaws.com").
Custom EC2 API endpoint FQDN followed by its IP address (e.g., "ec2.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com:10.1.2.3").
Custom EC2 API endpoint FQDN followed by multiple IP addresses (e.g., "ec2.eu-central1.amazonaws.com:10.1.2.3,10.1.5.3"). This option is applicable to High-Availability (HA) deployments in AWS environments across multiple availability zones. The device chooses the IP address that matches the HA subnet of the currently active device in the HA system.

Note: The parameter is applicable only to Mediant VE/CE deployed on the AWS cloud platform.

'Network Interface Status Check'

configure network > network-settings > interface-status-check

[NetworkInterfaceStatusCheck]

When the device is deployed in Azure cloud, it may experience intermittent problems in communication with virtual hosts that may cause the virtual network interface (NIC) to "freeze". To overcome this issue, the device can periodically check the status of all network interfaces to detect if this condition exists and mitigate it by performing a maintenance reboot.

[0] Check box cleared o = (Default) Disabled.
[1] Check box selected þ = Enabled.

For more information, see Configuring Network Interface Status Checks.

Note: The parameter is applicable only to Mediant VE/CE deployed on Azure cloud.

'Network Interface Status Check Period'

configure network > network-settings > interface-status-check-period

[NetworkInterfaceStatusCheckPeriod]

Defines the period (in seconds) between each check of virtual network interfaces.

The default is 10.

For more information, see Configuring Network Interface Status Checks.

Note: The parameter is applicable only to Mediant VE/CE deployed on Azure cloud.

'Network Interface Status Check Retries'

configure network > network-settings > interface-status-check-retries

[NetworkInterfaceStatusCheckRetries]

Defines the number of retries (ARP requests) if no change in the virtual network interface (Rx/Tx Bytes counters).

The default is 10.

For more information, see Configuring Network Interface Status Checks.

Note: The parameter is applicable only to Mediant VE/CE deployed on Azure cloud.

'Maintenance Events Monitoring'

configure network > cloud-settings > monitoring-maintenance-events

[MaintenanceEventsMonitoringEnable]

Enables the device to monitor the cloud platform's scheduled maintenance events for virtual machines on which the device is installed.

[0] Check box cleared o = Disabled.
[1] Check box selected þ = (Default) Enabled.

For more information, see Monitoring Cloud Scheduled VM Maintenance Events.

Note: The parameter is applicable only to Mediant VE/CE deployed on Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

'Maintenance Events Treatment'

configure network > cloud-settings > treatment-maintenance-events

[MaintenanceEventsTreatmentEnable]

Enables the device to perform a switchover (active to standby for HA systems, or move sessions to a different Media Component for Mediant CE's Elastic Media Cluster mode) before a scheduled maintenance event on the virtual machine of the cloud platform.

[0] Check box cleared o = (Default) Disabled.
[1] Check box selected þ = Enabled.

For more information, see Monitoring Cloud Scheduled VM Maintenance Events.

Note:

For this feature to be functional, you also need to configure the 'Maintenance Events Monitoring' parameter to Enable.
The parameter is applicable only to Mediant VE/CE deployed on Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
